Developing the Welsh language and culture

Ar gael yn Saesneg yn unig ar hyn o bryd

Staff promote the Welsh language consistently and model its use effectively in both Welsh-medium and English-medium classes. Through purposeful professional learning, including participation in Welsh language sabbatical courses, staff have strengthened their confidence and skills in using Welsh in their daily interactions with pupils. In the school's newly established Welsh-medium classes, staff support pupils’ language development effectively and provide valuable opportunities for them to hear, practise and use Welsh in meaningful contexts. As a result, most pupils’ understanding of the language and confidence to begin using Welsh are developing well. Across the school, most pupils develop positive attitudes towards learning Welsh and participate enthusiastically in lessons and a wide range of activities. The school provides valuable opportunities for pupils to explore and celebrate Welsh culture, heritage and traditions, which fosters a strong sense of belonging and pride in Wales. This positive Welsh ethos encourages pupils to engage confidently with the language while developing an appreciation of their local and national identity.
